The Real China Hosting Olympics

This is what they get because someone made the sickening decision to hold the olympics in Beijing, China. As far as I’m concerned whoever made this decision is the one we should thank for this.

Chinese human rights lawyer Teng Biao and human rights activist Hu Jia published an article together, it describes the real China which is now full of injustice, tears, imprisonment, torture and blood. It also gives evidence as to whether or not the human rights status in China has improved.
In the article, it says 1.25 million people had to move out from their homes by force due to construction projects for the Olympic stadiums. There are also incidents of forced-demolition of people’s property in Beijing, Shen Yang, Shanghai, and Qin Huang Dao, where other stadiums are constructed for the Olympic Games.
The government stops, detains and forcefully sends back the appealers with the excuse of building up good images for the cities.
It also detains the human rights activists, dissidents and writers who are not afraid to tell the truth.
The government also suppresses the freedom of belief.
Hu Jia said, the Beijing authorities think the human rights activists and their voices are the biggest threat to them before the Olympic Games. They’re trying to give the appearance of a harmonious society, so human rights advocates Gao Zhisheng and Chen Guangchen become their typical targets, as the authority wants to “kill one to warn a hundred”.
Hu said:”it is so despicable. For the outside world, it appears to be a harmonious, peaceful, democratic, and free country; in fact, it has designed a big plot to cheat the whole world. It just likes a garden in a concentration camp. They only show people the garden, but behind the flowers and trees, there is brutal suppression and violent treatments towards the Chinese people. That is the real situation.”
Hu also said that the government has made some progress on their suppression, in the next 300 days, the voice of human rights protectors will be restricted, as the most firm-willed and active advocates have been arrested.
However, the constant suppression will lead to another extreme. He said: “They may push so hard on the people that they will start to rebel. The people have to let others hear their voices. If the Chinese government wants everyone to close their mouths, be completely quiet, or create some kind of harmonious society, it is absolutely impossible.”
The last sentence in the article is “Without human dignity and rights, there will be no real Olympic Games.”
Sickening. I know when the Olympics were in Atlanta there were some inconveniences… but nothing like this. I find this appalling. Sadly, it is the tip of the iceberg of what human rights will be trampled because of these Olympic games. In my opinion the Olympics are now a joke.

Thanks for sharing this Liz. I think its a total disgrace that we are having the Olympics in China. Now this? Wow. I’m not really surprised at China’s lack of concern for its own people. I am surprised that others aren’t aware of it or don’t care and choose to have China hold the Olympics. I always thought it was an honor to have the Olympics held in your country. Now I see that isn’t true. China will shame the Olympic games and that is unfortunate. I hope someone will be held accountable.
i am appalled by this. i recently participated in the contest you guys held for the american apparel gift card and while i took what was being said to be very serious (after all, i am the mother of an 18 month old and am very concerned of his health and safety), i didn’t really take into account what a serious problem this is. manufacturing in china, the labor conditions, the harmful products being used to make toys, etc., etc.
then i saw a documentary on t.v. called ‘made in l.a.’ which explained how all this is also going on HERE. the problem is universal, clearly. now this? the stupid f-ing olympics? it’s disgusting.
Your work on China seem to be working. I just heard today that American companies are making headway exporting services to the Chineese. Hooters opened their first restaurant there today……..dad
You only told a very small part of story. I don’t know how many people have moved, but suggusting all of them are forced to leave are appaling. I knew a lot of people living in Beijing. As i know the vast majority are happy to move because they can get a bigger, better property.
The americans are at good at fabricating allegations, rummors. Here i see another example. you make me feel sick, disgusted.
