Friends Of Mel Recalling Bracelets

Published by Mommy Zabs under Lead, Recall

Friends of mel, a well-known charity in support of cancer research, recalled bracelets they sold to raise money. I APPLAUD! them for testing these themselves. My career history makes me familiar with how a charity such as this comes into being able to order from China. There had to be a few middle men in between them and the manufacturer. YET, they were the ones that thought to test their product. Something they should do - YES! But think of all the links in the chain that know more about the business and did not. I’m thankful for people like this.

If you want read the following full press release. Especially if you have the bracelets above.

The Real China Hosting Olympics

Published by Mommy Zabs under Olympics

I discovered this on the ChinaView Blog

This is what they get because someone made the sickening decision to hold the olympics in Beijing, China. As far as I’m concerned whoever made this decision is the one we should thank for this.

Breaking News, SOH Radio Network-

Chinese human rights lawyer Teng Biao and human rights activist Hu Jia published an article together, it describes the real China which is now full of injustice, tears, imprisonment, torture and blood. It also gives evidence as to whether or not the human rights status in China has improved.

In the article, it says 1.25 million people had to move out from their homes by force due to construction projects for the Olympic stadiums. There are also incidents of forced-demolition of people’s property in Beijing, Shen Yang, Shanghai, and Qin Huang Dao, where other stadiums are constructed for the Olympic Games.

The government stops, detains and forcefully sends back the appealers with the excuse of building up good images for the cities.

It also detains the human rights activists, dissidents and writers who are not afraid to tell the truth.

The government also suppresses the freedom of belief.

Hu Jia said, the Beijing authorities think the human rights activists and their voices are the biggest threat to them before the Olympic Games. They’re trying to give the appearance of a harmonious society, so human rights advocates Gao Zhisheng and Chen Guangchen become their typical targets, as the authority wants to “kill one to warn a hundred”.

Hu said:”it is so despicable. For the outside world, it appears to be a harmonious, peaceful, democratic, and free country; in fact, it has designed a big plot to cheat the whole world. It just likes a garden in a concentration camp. They only show people the garden, but behind the flowers and trees, there is brutal suppression and violent treatments towards the Chinese people. That is the real situation.”

Hu also said that the government has made some progress on their suppression, in the next 300 days, the voice of human rights protectors will be restricted, as the most firm-willed and active advocates have been arrested.

However, the constant suppression will lead to another extreme. He said: “They may push so hard on the people that they will start to rebel. The people have to let others hear their voices. If the Chinese government wants everyone to close their mouths, be completely quiet, or create some kind of harmonious society, it is absolutely impossible.”

The last sentence in the article is “Without human dignity and rights, there will be no real Olympic Games.”

Sickening. I know when the Olympics were in Atlanta there were some inconveniences… but nothing like this. I find this appalling. Sadly, it is the tip of the iceberg of what human rights will be trampled because of these Olympic games. In my opinion the Olympics are now a joke.

Why Execute Chinese Head of FDA?

Published by Mommy Zabs under Communism

Taken from a post from Live China Free by Kent Herrick

“The execution of Zheng Xiaoyu, the former head of China’s State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) who was convicted of taking bribes to approve drugs, was a decisive move by Beijing.”

BUT WHY WAS IT? … Who was supposed to receive the message? Some think it was the Chinese; that is to say get your Ministries in order or get a bullet. But I think it was a public relations stunt and little more. The rest of the world was supposed to see how serious the Chinese are about product safety …. “why they shot this minister!” But they shoot people everyday for less; no I think he was shot to make you feel better about Chinese products. “wow they must be a lot safer because they shot this high ranking dude. …. so I should really feel better.” ….. well do you? I don’t. Few people in China act without orders from above and the higher up you are the more you get orders until you arrive at the top. I blame the top…. Live China Free!

Kent- I agree with you 100%.

Lead Bib Alternative.

Published by Mommy Zabs under Shopping China-Free

This guest post was written by OneMothersLove, a stay-at-home mom of a 3 year old boy and a 8 month old girl She has been married to my firefighter for almost 10 years! I would love to have your readers visit my blog and my Etsy Shop!

After reading some of the information on recent bib recalls over at NotChinaMade.net, I decided to take some of my fabric that I used recently for a diaper and make a bib!

I simply traced a store-bought bib, altered the shape to provide a little more coverage, and added a seam allowance. I can’t stand tiny bibs! The printed fabric is flannel, the back makes good use of an old towel, and I included a Velcro closure on it because I hate to tie things around baby’s neck.

This was so easy to make! I’ve been using some of my other extra fabric & have listed some more bibs in My Etsy Shop to go along with my tag blankets. I am also planning on adding the pattern to My Etsy Shop for those who want to make their own!And the test drive… it works for me!
