Photo Frames Recalled by The Gift Wrap Company Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Hanging Photo Frames

Units: About 600

Importer: The Gift Wrap Co., of Atlanta, Ga.

Hazard: Surface paint on the photo frames contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves 4-inch by 6-inch hanging picture frames. The wooden frames are white with decorations in different colors, and with a coordinating ribbon attached to the top.

Sold at: Babies R Us stores nationwide from August 2007 through November 2007 for about $10.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using this photo frame and contact The Gift Wrap Company for a full refund.

Inversion Therapy Tables Recalled by Stamina Products Due to Fall Hazard

Name of Product: Inversion Therapy Tables

Units: About 2,000

Distributor: Stamina Products Inc., of Springfield, Mo.

Hazard: A weld in the center of the inversion table can fail when the table is in an inverted position, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Stamina Products has received three reports of weld failures. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the following inversion therapy tables:

Inversion Therapy Table - 55-1531
Serial Numbers: 05NOV000001 through 05NOV000414 and 05DEC000415 through 05DEC000828

Pro Inversion System - 55-1536, 55-1536A, and 55-1536B
Serial Numbers: 05SEP000001 through 05SEP000528, 06NOV000001 through 06NOV000528, and 07SEP000001 through 07SEP000528

This exercise equipment allows consumers to fasten to the table in an upright position and safely invert. The model and serial number are located on the black Stamina label found to the left of the rubber stopper on the cross bar.

Sold by: Retailers nationwide and online from October 2005 through October 2007 for between $160 and $300.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled inversion tables immediately and contact Stamina Products to have the table picked up and to receive a free replacement inversion table or a refund.

Discount School Supply Recalls Play Mats Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

Manufacturer: Discount School Supply, of Monterey, Calif.

Hazard: The paint on the Tic Tac Turtle Toss mats contains excess levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves 50-inch vinyl/polyester play mats. The double sided mats have a number design on one side and a turtle design on the other. The mats are yellow with numbers and designs painted in red, blue, green and black. The mat has the Discount School Supply name and logo printed in the corner on both sides of the mat. Bean bags pictured with the mat are sold separately.

Sold by: Discount School Supply catalogs and the company’s Web site from June 2007 through September 2007 for about $40.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the mat immediately and contact Discount School Supply to receive a credit or refund.

Hazard: The surface paint contains high levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Description: The recalled toy is a package of four action figures. Each figure is about 5 3/4 inches high. The UPC number 604111230003 is printed on the product’s packaging.

Sold at: Dollar stores and discount stores nationwide from January 2007 through December 2007 for about $1.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should take the toy away from children immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Product: Office Depot Brand Perforated Writing Pads (letter size/legal) in white or yellow (they also come in other sizes)

Where to Buy: Office Depot

Price: $6.99 for a 12 pack (50 sheets each)

Rating: 10

Review: If you are in business or use note pads on a regular basis, these are a great buy. They are very well made and sturdy. These writing pads are priced lower than most of the other brands that are made outside the US. They come in a couple sizes and colors as well.

For me, the best part of buying the Office Depot brand writing note pads is that they are Made in the USA!

Kash N’ Gold Recalls Tinker Bell Novelty Lamps Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

Manufacturer: Kash N’ Gold Ltd., of Deer Park, N.Y.

Hazard: The surface paint on the lamps contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recalled Tinker Bell lamp has model “Tinker Bell Lamp” printed on the bottom of the lamp. The lamp has a sculpted Tinker Bell in a flower garden with an animation of Tinker Bell swaying back and forth while music plays when the light switch or demo button is depressed.

Sold at: Electronic and appliance retailers nationwide, including Lowe’s from January 2007 through October 2007 for about $40.

Manufactured in: Hong Kong

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lamps and return them to the store where purchased for a refund or contact the firm to receive a Kash N’ Gold merchandise credit.

Shims Bargain Recalls Pacifiers Due to Choking Hazard

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: “BabyTown” Pacifiers

Units: About 45,000

Importer/Distributor: Shims Bargain Inc., of Los Angeles, Calif.

Hazard: These pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards for pacifiers. The pacifier shield is too small and could easily enter the mouth of an infant. Also, ventilation holes are too small and not placed to allow for the insertion of a tool to remove the pacifier when lodged in the mouth of a child. Finally, the package fails to display the required warning instructing consumers not to tie a pacifier around a child’s neck, which would present a strangulation hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recalled pacifiers were sold in a 4-pack of assorted colors. “BabyTown” and model #39864 are written on the product’s packaging.

Sold at: Dollar stores nationwide from March 2004 through December 2007 for $1.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should take these pacifiers away from children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.
