This Mayor needs a hand clap! Seriously, not too many politicians are taking a stand on this issue. He is to be applauded because he is. His attempts are not to force the citizens to boycott China, but to set an example through the government by being responsible in purchasing decisions. I wish more politicians viewed their power as something that should not be talk, but action, and set an example for the people. I have no clue where the mayor stands on other issues, but on this one I fully support him, please read article and if you feel so inclined write the Mayor of Palm Bay to encourage him, please do –> mayor@pbfl.org
Palm Bay holds off on China boycott
PALM BAY - The city council postponed a vote Thursday on prohibiting the city from purchasing goods manufactured in China after some members questioned why Palm Bay was diverting its attention from more local concerns.

Not China Made (dot) Net does not think this enough and we are urging you to help us do something about it. It will take 10- 15 minutes out of your day and cost approximately 40 cents! Please click here and read what we are doing and encourage as many as possible to join you. The more involved the more effective this effort would be. Wouldn’t you like more shopping options this holiday season? More options you feel don’t put your children’s safety at risk?
I’m trying so hard to focus on the good news out of today and not the bad. Our President (who yes, I voted for and still for the most part like… no stone throwing please) met with President Hu(China) in Australia today. I could block quote a bunch of it and then give you my opinion, but like I said, I do not want to focus on the negative of their meeting. I actually tried writing a full post on this, but I got so drained and could not even get through it.
This is a guest post by Ann W. Hopefully she will become a regular contributor to Not China Made! Ann is a Christian, a grandma, and lives in the Pacific North West.

In the September 2007 issue of Good Housekeeping has an article called, “Playing
with Poison” by Virginia Sole-Smith. It begins with a heart wrenching story of a
little boy who ingested a piece of trinket jewelry from a 25 cent vending machine. The boy soon after displayed aggressive symptoms, then illness, and subsequently died as a result of lead poisoning.
I’m going to disclaimer this with the fact that THOUGH I think i would have made an excellent lawyer I hate law suits. However, we all know that this “china thing” is such a huge issue to me that I want to do all I can to make a point. |
If you follow my Mom Blog, or read some of the first posts on this blog, you will know that my children love Thomas the train. They had one of the trains (one of their favorites) recalled. I did what you all need to do if you haven’t already (if you have children) and called their dr. She ordered an immediate blood test.
Not Long ago, in a land not far away, our nation thrived. Built upon the backs of slaves, men and women suffered because the color of their skin. At times shipped here, imported, for that very purpose… to make money for the white man, until a few stood up, and said it could continue no longer.
Those few must have been mocked. They disrupted the system. They fought what seemed to be an insurmountable enemy, greed, hate, and selfish human nature. Many must have thought the nation would crumble without the labor that cost them only food and shelter to keep their human possessions alive. The threat so great it is the only time in history our country, the citizens of the United States, took such strong stands against each other, that it lead to war. It had to look like the end of a great nation. But here we are today.
